Highlight: Women’s Fashion S/S 2016 New York

Anna Sui

First destination. New York. You will find here some of my selections of NYFW. To begin, I will firstly start with Anna Sui – above – who worked on a very colorful collection for Spring Summer 2016. The woman is on vacation mode through cropped tops and dresses. You are basically brought to some islands by simply looking at the different looks. On the very left, the swimsuit has this red roses and green leaves print that directly reminds me of tattoos but adding the kimono, the entire look feels very Asian in a way – or Hawaiian, just like the next blue dress. I am usually not really into all kind of holes because it feels like a fishing net most of the time but the look in the middle shout out to me, the jacket is perfect on top of a all white or beige outfit. Then the green look is the one I would wear in the city when the weather is very good, sunny but not too hot. Nothing extravagant, but still fashionable. Finally we end up with Gigi, the sporty model from Australia who wrote an open letter on Instagram about her body, wearing a red beach dress. Highlight: Men’s Fashion Week S/S 16

Women’s Fashion Week just started, but before that, let’s have a look on the other gender. I am calling the men first! I’ve been thinking to approach the theme in a different way and I want it to be more fun and joyful with a different design when it comes to something similar. You will understand what I am saying by reading the full article. By talking with friends and acquaintances, I realized that we have a total opposite vision. As a female, what is beautiful and interesting for me is so different from what a male thinks. Also we need to focus on the different style whether someone is into chic, minimalist or sporty etc. Moreover between girls, the thoughts are split as well. Let’s get started!

Les Talismans by Chanel

Les Talismans de Chanel
Chanel presents a brand new high jewelry collection, Les Talismans de Chanel.
Precious protectors, the pieces inject a feeling of power through magnetic and solar jewels, white or yellow gold, fascinating and mysterious creations, different from its usual codes and dazzling and hypnotic sparkles. The talismans de Chanel offer a voyage. The quatrefoil pattern, the true leitmotif of the collection, exalts a strange alchemy, like in the glittering coats of arms where an inexplicable and enigmatic beauty touches upon the invisible secrets of nature and the forces that lie hidden within us. The aura of diamonds brings these jeweler’s totems to life shimmering with Japanese cultured pearls, sapphires, multi-colored lacquer and enamel. Everything converges irresistibly to the centre of each piece in a concentration of energy.

BOY.FRIEND by Chanel

Chanel presents its new watch BOY.FRIEND. A masculine allure designed for women, somewhere in between, unisex why not. With its octagon shape, it brings the emblematic and iconic PREMIÈRE watch to mind, as a tribute to the legendary N°5 bottle and to Place Vendôme. A creation inscribed in the watchmaking vocabulary of the House with its sober, refined design, strong lines, and its signature shape. Contemporary, classic, polished and satin-finished angles. When purity reveals perfection. This watch holds within the art of twisting the elements from the masculine wardrobe so dear to Mademoiselle Chanel. Two sizes, a curved watchcase, 18K beige gold with or without diamonds, 18K white gold set with diamonds, an opaline dial with a fine guilloché finish highlighted by an oblong shape devoid of numerals, a semi-matt Mississipiensis alligator strap with pin or triple-folding buckle. 30th International Festival of Fashion & Photography in Hyères

 © Alice Herbaux

Hyères is a little town located near Toulon in the South of France. It welcomes the International Festival of Fashion & Photography for already 30 years. As a student and passionate about fashion and photography, I couldn’t miss the event. From April 23rd to 27th, the program was intense. I could only go there for a couple days 26th-27th as I had my Chanel training session the days before. Why am I talking about this ? Well. This year is so Chanel. First of all, I’m glad to be able to do my internship there during Summer and I can’t wait ! Secondly, this year’s main sponsor is… Chanel ! Not even do I have to mention the fact that there is an exhibition in Bonn on Karl Lagerfeld as well. Anyway. It’s just too much going on, and this is a good thing ! Nevertheless, for each first time, it is often a mess. It is a whole discovery process. I admit it was very difficult to find my own marks there for only two days. Knowing myself, I was indeed checking everything on the internet before. Map, addresses, transportation. Surprisingly it didn’t rain on Sunday although it was supposed to but this is a good point ! I didn’t know there were shuttles going to the Villa Noailles, basically on top of a little mountain. Guess what. I worked out. We were climbing. Spread on 1000 square meters, paintings as well as sculptures, designs pieces and photographies from artists of the 20th century are in the spotlight. The founder, Gilles Dyan, is well known for its generalist galleries – twelve in total, where all kind of artists can be found from Picasso to Dali, through Soulages, Chagall, Dubuffet, Niki de Saint Phalle… Modern, young and lively, the atmosphere is balanced by some pop music or asian sounds for a well condition of walk-and-appreciate moments. Separated from the two floors, the veranda shelters a couple sculptures in a New Yorker feel. But before all this, 62 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré is an address bloomed by beautiful stories of the French capital. Head office of the perfumery Roger & Gallet in 1931, it became in 1991 Versace’s flagship afterwards and here it is today embodying art. Continue reading “Opera Gallery : Reopening”
