Welcome to the Rosewood London! Here is the first focus on London. Among the ten days in the city, a lot has been done, tried and discovered. I had the chance to visit this unique hotel. Opened in October 2013, it became the pioneer in terms of five-star luxury hotel in Midtown within a year. “Best New Hotel in the World 2014” by Telegraph’s Ultratravel, “Hotel of the Year London 2014/2015” at the AA Hospitality Awards, “Opening of the Year 2014” at the European Hospitality Awards, the recognition is real in a short period of time. The £85 million renovation hides a beautiful interior in marble. Guests enter via a grand carriageway which leads to a distinctive courtyard giving a sense of arrival more akin to a private manor house than a hotel. Surprising in a way because you don’t see the entry at first and I wasn’t sure where it was until I crossed the alley.
The 262 rooms and 44 suites including nice signature suites, referred to as ‘houses’, have been crafted from the finest materials and appointed to the highest standard to convey the feel of stylish London residences. The Grand Manor House Wing, one of London’s most exclusive residences, welcomes guests via its own private entrance and is the only suite in the world to possess its own postcode. (The bath made of marble is incredible!)
Rosewood London is one of the city’s most exciting places to drink and dine with an assortment of culinary experiences. The bustling brasserie Holborn Dining Room from restaurateur Des McDonald serves classic British dishes with a twist throughout the day. Scares Bar, named after the renowned British artist and caricaturist Gerald Scarfe whose original artwork adorns the walls, evokes a convivial atmosphere akin to a sophisticated gentleman’s club. The creative menu of cocktails and complimentary live jazz six nights a week, make it a must visit, vibrant entertainment destination.
The stunning Mirror Room, tucked away in the heart of Rosewood London is the social hub of the hotel, offering innovative, elegant dining and afternoon tea. They said the mirror reflects women’s jewelry. The tradition of British tea is taken to new heights with the opulent jewel box design and floor to ceiling mirrors.
Every Sunday from 10am to 3:30pm, the luxury hotel hosts a weekly “Slow Food & Living Market” in its grand inner courtyard featuring over 30 different Slow Food & Living merchants who have been carefully selected for their exceptional quality. Newly appointed executive chef, Amandine Chaignot, is at the helm of the market which recreates the traditional marketplace shopping experience in Holborn for local residents and hotel guests and celebrates good, clean and fair produce. Ingredients from the Slow Food Market are featured throughout Holborn Dining Room and the Mirror Room’s new Sunday brunch menus. This market is very genius. I didn’t expect finding some hibiscus juice, first time I tried, and it is so good, very light and refined.
Something you need to try? the brunch! With a glass of sparkling wine or not, the brunch is divided in several buffet tables. Sweet? Salted? which ever at your convenience! No rush, let the savors take you wherever you want. Pancakes (the best I’ve ever had), waffles, eggs, beans (so yummy), bacon, baked tomatoes, saucisson, smoked salmon, fish or meat with veggies, mozzarella and tomatoes (so on point), cereals, bread, juices, cakes, marshmallow, strawberries, chocolate fountain, yogurt, … Everyone can find his happiness out there! I couldn’t even describe how nice it was. I really did enjoy this brunch time. The food was amazing, the service was faultless and that was somehow a luxury experience once again. Not only because of the place, the history, the quality and the service, but also the way you feel about it the way you live the moment, the way you appreciate it. The combination of everything makes a whole unbelievable journey. Such a peaceful break in the middle of my London trip punctuated by speed and lack of sleep…
A special thanks to Sophie and Francisco & his team for this lovely moment!
