Brazilian born PR and brand ambassador Carlos Souza was at the Valentino boutique rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré during menswear fashion week in Paris. Book signing, taking pictures, Carlos was as always very elegant, charming and smiling. As a travel lover, his book ‘Carlos’s Places’ is all image-based using the social media Instagram. A picture’s worth a thousand words right ? But back to a bit of who he is…
“Souza, who is today based in Rome and New York, has been affiliated with Valentino Garavani and his company for nearly four decades. He was still a teenager when he met the designer during carnival celebrations in Rio, and the two were reunited a few years later, in the early 1970s, when Souza was modeling in Rome and the celebrated photographer David Bailey shot him for a Valentino menswear campaign. Souza went to work for the fashion house in ’78, starting out in the PR office—”gluing press articles into the archives,” he recounts—at a time when Valentino was dressing Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Onassis, and Barbra Streisand. As the company grew into an empire, Souza became a key face of the brand, second only to the designer himself and his partner, Giancarlo Giammetti. While those two principals retired in 2008, Souza remains the house’s dashing emissary to movie stars, socialites, and other high-profile clients.” – Architectural Digest
Moody moody ! Gorgeous things were merchandised. Simple tailoring, floral prints, butterflies, military camouflage style, checks… The shirts are amazing, with a great soft feeling to the touch, the white one directly caught my eyes even if it’s menswear. Yes… I definitely need the little floral clutch, it reminds me of the Dries Van Noten exhibition’s prints on the walls, but with darker colors.
